Chelsea closed the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool to just two points on Sunday, securing a 2-1 win over local rivals Brentford.

Goals from Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson extended Chelsea’s impressive run to seven consecutive victories in all competitions, reinforcing their credentials as genuine title contenders.

Chelsea dominated possession from the outset, but it wasn’t until the 43rd minute that Cucurella broke the deadlock, diving to head Noni Madueke’s cross past Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

With 10 minutes remaining, Jackson sealed the win, tucking the ball inside the near post for his ninth Premier League goal of the season, following a well-timed pass from Enzo Fernandez.

Although Brentford remained a threat on the counter-attack, and Bryan Mbeumo pulled one back in the dying seconds of the match, Chelsea held on to move four points clear of third-placed Arsenal, leaving them with a nervous finish.
