Kenyan singer Charisma, whose stage name is Luhya Heat, openly accused gospel-turned-world artist Bahati Kenya of what he termed “shameless clout chasing.”
The drama began after Charisma accused Bahati of capitalizing on the death of up-and-coming artist Shalkido Ga Cucu to gain publicity. In a furious Instagram story, Charisma expressed his outrage, saying:
“So this dude didn’t respond to this kid’s DM when he asked for a collab and that’s totally fine. But the kid has now died in a tragic way and this dude is trying to clout chase on his death. I just can’t stand everything about him.”
He went on to describe Bahati’s move as “disgusting,” stating that the industry has hit rock bottom where social media validation is all that matters.
“All about influence and nothing more. It’s become a drug and it’s so uncouth… Shame on you!” he continued to utter.
The post has, nonetheless, attracted different comments online. Some fans defended Charisma, also agreeing that the entertainment industry will always try to capitalize on tragedy for publicity, while others defended Bahati, stating his post was genuine sympathy.
Late Shalkido Ga Cucu, who was slowly gaining ground in the music industry, allegedly approached Bahati previously for collaboration. His death has left his fans in mourning over his untapped potential.
