Kenyan TV personality Betty Kyallo stirred tongues online after calling on Kenyan men to undergo DNA tests in order to determine paternity, claiming many men are suffering financially and emotionally for children who do not biologically belong to them.

On October 12, 2025, in a viral post Betty spoke her mind directly sharing,

”Spare that KSh 22,000 men and get a DNA test. Too many men are financially strained, taking loans and dreading children who are not theirs.”

The quote has since divided Kenyans on social media. While others praised Betty for her honesty while others termed her comments as insensitive and potentially damaging to families.

Supporters argued that DNA testing should be normalized to promote transparency and peace of mind for both parents. “If you’re confident, you’ve got nothing to fear. Truth brings closure,” one fan commented.

However, critics accused the former TV anchor of fuelling mistrust between partners. “Not everything should be solved through suspicion,” another user wrote. “Relationships need communication, not lab results.”

The controversy over paternity has intensified in Kenya over the past few years, fueled by a string of celebrity DNA scandals. The tests, which cost about KSh 22,000, are always cited as the only way to resolve controversies.
