In an intelligence-led operation in Eastleigh, Nairobi, the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) detectives have apprehended a woman thought to be the mainstays and supporters of a terrorist network.
The local police found the suspect, Asho Kassim Hassan, in her residence along Major Muriithi Street and during the search of the premises they also found her passport along with her mobile phone. Presently, the pieces are subject to forensic examination to establish a possible linkage of her to a terror network.
It is also mentioned by the officials that the Kenya Police service through the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has been very active in the field of intelligence gathering by carrying out more operations, coordinating better with other security agencies as well as involving the community in the security chain.
Hassan remains in police detention as detectives conduct their inquiries, and it is anticipated that she will be taken to court once the file is ready.
