Kenyan athletics icon Paul Tergat has been appointed as the official international ambassador for the 2025 Brașov Running Festival, set to take place on October 4–5 in Romania.

The festival’s highlight will once again be the world-renowned tRUNsylvania 10K, scheduled for the second day of the event.

Known for attracting top-tier talent from across the globe, this elite road race has earned a reputation as one of the premier 10K events in the world.

Paul Tergat, one of the most celebrated figures in athletics history, brings immense prestige to the event.

A five-time World Cross Country champion and two-time World Half Marathon champion, Tergat also held world records in the 10,000 meters, half marathon, and marathon. His stellar career includes multiple medals from major international championships and a lasting impact on long-distance running.

Since retiring from competition, Tergat has continued to serve the sport in leadership roles. He became a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2013 and has served as President of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya.

His influence extends far beyond the track, making him one of the sport’s most respected global ambassadors.

“I am excited to come to Brașov and experience one of the most prominent running festivals to emerge in recent years, especially the international elite tRUNsylvania 10K,” said Tergat.

Held in the heart of Romania, the Brașov Running Festival is set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Carpathian Mountains and the historic Transylvanian city of Brașov, which dates back to the 13th century.

The festival features a wide range of races, from 800m community runs to national-level 5K events, along with a unique trail-to-road competition.

The tRUNsylvania 10K will be broadcast live with expert English-language commentary on the festival’s official website: www.brasovrun.ro.
