Renowned media personality and social activist, Adelle Onyango, is set to screen her debut film, Home, in Nairobi starting this April at Unseen Nairobi. The film, which is a poetic exploration of an African woman’s journey to reclaim her body and identity, initially premiered on February 21 at Shalom House Gardens, and its upcoming screenings are generating much excitement.

For Adelle, Home holds deep personal significance. “Being able to share my poetry with you through this film is incredibly special to me,” she shared prior to the premiere. The short film provides an immersive experience that combines powerful storytelling and striking visuals, offering audiences a fresh take on Adelle’s poetic expressions.

The journey of bringing Home to life was a transformative one for Adelle. The filming process, which began in 2024, was filled with challenges and rewarding moments. “It was a life-changing experience seeing my poetry come to life on screen, working with talented actors, and even an animal! A week of early mornings and late nights that I absolutely loved!” she reflected, sharing the joy she found in the creative process.

Fans who are familiar with Adelle’s advocacy through her podcast Legally Clueless can now look forward to her entry into filmmaking. The screenings of Home will take place at Unseen Nairobi on several dates: April 7 at 5 pm, April 8 at 5 pm, April 9 at 7 pm (featuring a special director’s Q&A), April 10 at 5 pm, and April 11 at 5 pm. A special family screening will also be held on April 13 at 3 pm.
