The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has warned TVET students applying for loans to confirm that they have completed the final step of the application process before the deadline.
The warning mainly targets first-time applicants for the TVET Diploma Level 6 loan, with HELB cautioning students against assuming that filling in the application form means the loan application has been successfully submitted.
According to HELB, students who complete the process should receive a confirmation message stating: “Congratulations! Your loan application for TVET Diploma Level 6 first-time application form is complete.”
Applicants can also confirm their submission by requesting a copy of the completed application form in PDF format through the “Resend Application” option.
HELB said students who did not reach the final confirmation stage should not assume that their applications were successfully submitted.
This is a last-minute reminder ahead of the deadline for students applying for HELB loans and scholarships set for 11:59 p.m. Monday September 21, 2026.
“The Board encourages all those who have not made submissions to do so through the Higher Education Financing (HEF) portal by the stipulated deadline,” HELB said.
Subsequent loan applicants will also get a confirmation message once they have gone through the procedure.
However, HELB indicated that it was possible for the confirmation message not to be received at times or delayed to be received. Such applicants have been advised to monitor their loan application status instead of just waiting for the message.
Subsequent loan applicants may dial *642# or *334#, and thereafter select option 6, option 46 and option 2. They can also apply via the HELB mobile app.
The purpose of the board’s reminder is to ensure that students differentiate between completing of the loan application process and filling the application form.
Those students who have not yet applied have up to 11:59 p.m. Monday to make their submissions through the HEF portal.
