President William Ruto has taken an early lead in the race to State House if the latest InfoTrak opinion poll is anything to go by.
The survey places Ruto at 32 per cent support, giving him a comfortable lead over his closest rivals more than a year before Kenyans head to the ballot.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka emerged second with 13 per cent support, while Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i tied in third place after each garnered 12 per cent.
The findings suggest the opposition remains divided, with no single challenger commanding enough support to close the gap with the incumbent.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was ranked fifth with four per cent support, followed by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at three per cent.
Former Chief Justice David Maraga received two per cent, while Martha Karua polled one per cent. Another one per cent of respondents backed other candidates.
The nationwide survey interviewed 3,000 adults across all 47 counties between June 22 and June 26. InfoTrak said the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.79 per cent at a 95 per cent confidence level.
The poll also looked at support within political parties. Ruto enjoys overwhelming backing among UDA supporters, while Kalonzo remains the clear favourite within Wiper.
Matiang’i leads among Jubilee supporters, while a sizeable number of respondents without party affiliation said they were yet to settle on a preferred presidential candidate.
On the question of Ruto’s preferred running mate, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki topped the list with 34 per cent support.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga came second with 11 per cent, while Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga was third at five per cent.
With the 2027 General Election still months away, the latest findings are expected to intensify political realignments as parties position themselves for what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested race.
