Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho has expressed confidence in Kenya’s preparedness to host the 11th edition of the Our Ocean Conference, scheduled to take place in Mombasa from June 16 to 18.

In a statement shared on social media, Joho said preparations for the international event have entered the final phase, with only a few days remaining before delegates from across the world converge in the coastal city.

The Cabinet Secretary revealed that he conducted an inspection tour of key facilities, including Moi International Airport and designated conference venues, to assess the country’s readiness and ensure all logistical arrangements are on course.

“We are privileged to be hosting the 11th edition of the Our Ocean Conference in our coastal city of Mombasa. Preparations have entered the final stretch with just a few days to the kick-off of this historic event,” Joho said.

The inspection was attended by Betsy Njagi and other senior government officials involved in coordinating the conference.

The Our Ocean Conference is a global platform that brings together governments, scientists, environmental organizations, private sector players and development partners to discuss sustainable management of oceans and marine resources.

The event focuses on issues such as marine conservation, climate change, sustainable fisheries, the blue economy and marine pollution.
