The government has described the ongoing construction of Wajir Stadium as a symbol of its commitment to equitable development and national unity, saying no part of the country should be left behind in Kenya’s development journey.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Raymond Omollo, said the stadium demonstrates the government’s belief that security and development go hand in hand.
“Kenya’s security approach is development, and the construction of Wajir Stadium is a live and deliberate statement by this government that every corner of our beloved Republic matters equally,” said Omollo.
The PS, who also chairs the National Celebrations Steering Committee, noted that investments in infrastructure help foster social cohesion, create opportunities for young people, and promote economic growth in regions that have historically faced development challenges.
He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring all counties benefit from national development projects regardless of their geographical location.
“We are all one team and important partners in our national project,” he said.
The Wajir Stadium project is expected to provide a modern sporting facility for the region while supporting talent development and community engagement among the youth.
