Cricket Kenya has received a second wave relief after months of financial strain and administrative uncertainty.
This comes after the International Cricket Council (ICC) boosted its financing of Cricket Kenya (CK) to support the development, training camps and international fixtures.
CK Chairman Bhavesh Gohil confirmed that the funds from ICC entered the federation’s account on Friday, following engagement with the officials of the ICC body.
According to CK Chief Executive Officer Ronald Bukusi, said the federation received USD 826,000 (Ksh 107.10 million) from ICC annually, as the funds are disbursed on quarterly basis.
Gohil stated that the administration is pulling out all stops to ensure Kenya is out of the controlled funding program by the end of 2026.
“Getting out of controlled funding is a process but we want to come out of it as soon as possible. We are targeting the end of this year if not earlier,” Gohil noted.
The ICC warned the federation that it risked forfeiting the withheld funds if it failed to address the non-compliance during the six months period.
Bukusi said the new CK board members are aligned with the ICC’s regulations as the governing body conducts an induction for members in Nairobi in the month of June.
