As part of preparations for the Africa Forward Summit President William Ruto had a one-on-one conversation with President of Côte d’Ivoire Alassane Ouattara at State House Nairobi.
The leaders talked about how best the friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Côte d’Ivoire could be consolidated with a special emphasis on trade, investment and people-to-people exchange as a way of benefiting citizens of both countries.
President Ruto explained that Kenya’s act of establishing an embassy in Côte d’Ivoire and sending off its first-ever ambassador to the West African nation is a testament of the country’s resolve to strengthen bilateral relations and broaden its diplomatic footprint in the region.
“Our decision to open an embassy and send the first-ever Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire reflects our shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and expanding Kenya’s diplomatic presence in West Africa” said Ruto
On his part, he was pleased with President Ouattara’s launch of an ambassador to Nairobi as a reciprocal measure, something that is anticipated to stimulate diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
The two Heads of State in agreement at the multilateral level that they will step up collaboration on regional and international issues affecting Africa.
“At the multilateral level, we agreed to advance our cooperation.” Ruto added
President Ruto And invited President Ouattara to back Njoki Ndung’u for her candidature as an International Criminal Court judge.
The meeting was held before the Africa Forward Summit, which aims to gather African leaders as well as discuss economic and other important issues.
