Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has lauded the President William Ruto for convening a consultative forum with county leaders including her, at State House Nairobi, terming the occasion as humbling and invigorating.
Waiguru said the gathering brought Kirinyaga’s Members of Parliament, Members of County Assembly and grassroots leadership together to discuss identified priority development projects being undertaken through government-to-government partnerships.
She thanked the President for funding big capital projects in the county including KSh15 billion for the building of 4,000 affordable housing units. She observed that housing projects in Kianyaga and Kerugoya will soon be ready for handing over.
Other major projects mentioned by the governor included KSh 1. 5 billion used for the development of 12 modern markets, hostels for 4,000 students and ICT infrastructure at the university College of Mwea.
In the health sub-sector, the governor said, KSh 330 million has been spent on buying medicine and setting up a level 4 hospital at KEMRI Wamumu.
“As Kirinyaga, we remain united and firm in supporting the President and his administration, focused on delivering real development for our people,” said Waiguru
Other projects include electricity for 19,000 households, a further 9,500 connections, KSh6 billion for roads, and 13 milk coolers to support dairy farmers.
