CAF President Motsepe And UEFA President Ceferin

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Vancouver, Canada, on April29th 2026, aiming to strengthen collaboration, growth and development of football across Africa and Europe.

Having signed the MoU, CAF President Patrice Motsepe and UEFA President Mr Aleksander Ceferin, agreed cooperation between two governing bodies that will partner in promoting inclusion, participation and social cohesion, while affirming a joint commitment to solidarity, integrity and openness.

CAF President Motsepe said, “A significant growth experienced in African football over the past years and will continue to build towards making the best in the world. This will include youth and women’s football, education, development and training coaches and referees to enhance the governance and institutional development. It will reflect CAF and UEFA’s shared vision of using football to bring together and unite the people of our two continents. The partnership ties Africa and Europe both having some of the best players in European leagues.”

UEFA President Ceferin, agreed with Motsepe, stating, “Europe and Africa are home to extraordinary football landscapes, where tournament plays a vital role both on the pitch and within society. He added they are working closely with CAF, we aim to invest in people, sharing expertise and strengthening football’s positive and lasting impact on communities across both continents.”

The partnership will create stronger structures and resources that will bring hope, joy and unity worldwide. Africa will gain access advanced technical knowledge and infrastructure support. The new era will benefit both continents in cultural unity while nurturing the next generation stars.
