The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has announced new guidelines on how students can defer studies, change courses, or move to a different campus.
In a notice released on Tuesday, April 21, the college said all these requests will now be done online through its official admissions portal. Students will no longer need to travel to campuses to apply.
KMTC states that this will facilitate ease and speed up the process for the student.
Under the new arrangement, any student requiring deferral, course changes or campus transfers is supposed to use his/her admission portal by inputting the relevant information into the portal. The student then navigates to the desired service, fills in the relevant information and submits.
After submitting the application, its status will remain as “Submitted” until approval is granted by the admissions office. The concerned student will thereafter receive notification regarding their application on their mobile phone.
According to the institution, some of the requests will not be approved. The admission department will approve an application based on whether there is room in the desired course or campus. Some of the courses and campuses might be filled.
Meanwhile, the KMTC also pointed out that deferment applications for the next year’s intake of September 2026 are currently closed. Those who wish to defer their admission will thus be advised to consider alternative ways.
In another related news, the institution has advised students to use official communication channels only. It was reported that fake admissions letters were being circulated online.
The changes are set to reduce queues and allow easy access to services among students across the country to access services without travelling.
