Kenyan content creator Gadwilliam Kiragu Kimani has declined a Ksh 800,000 brand partnership offer from a betting company, prioritizing his personal values and long-term brand integrity.
Speaking in an interview, he said the company approached him with a well-paying deal for promotion. Though the offer was financially appealing, he chose to turn it down considering the nature of betting and its impact on audiences.
He said his father advised him not to associate with such gambling brands, noting it would be part of one’s public identity and warned him the long- term consequences.
I will choose over my personal work over brands that would better my alignment for my personal values and audience expectations, he said, adding he is currently collaborating with multiple partners.
His decision has sparked conversations online about influencer responsibility, brand ethics and the growing scrutiny around betting advertisements in digital spaces.
