ICT cabinet secretary William Kabogo on Monday held a meeting with a team from TikTok ahead of the TikTok Safer Internet Summit 202
The Cs revealed this through a series of post on his social media platforms where he said that they discussed issues on the safety of the digital platform.
During the meeting, the CS said that Kenya has ovet 17 million tiktok users noting that the platform is playing key role in the promotion of the creative economy.
“It was a pleasure to host the leadership team from TikTok in Nairobi today, ahead of the TikTok Safer Internet Summit 2026. Kenya continues to cement its position as Africa’s premier digital innovation hub, and our conversation focused on ensuring that this growth is anchored in trust, safety, and responsibility,’Kabogo said.
During the meeting, discussions centered on improving content moderation, strengthening age-verification systems, combating misinformation during elections, and aligning operations with Kenya’s data protection laws.
The CS also encouraged TikTok to expand its regional presence in Nairobi and invest in local content moderation for African languages, as the government continues to roll out its Digital Superhighway agenda.
