President William Ruto enjoyed a mini-rally drive ahead of the much-anticipated 2026 Safari Rally this week. The World Rally Championship (WRC) event will come to Kenya for the sixth year in a row from Thursday, March 12 to Sunday, March 15.

Ahead of the event, President Ruto hosted daughter-mother duo Tinashe Gatimu and Caroline Gatimu at State House. The two, who are backed by KCB, will steer a Ford Fiesta R2 during the four-day event.

Tinashe took the President for a spin in State House in the video posted on the official social media accounts. The president engaged them on their work relationship before Tinashe teased the president to ‘wekelea mawe’ in what has now become a famous catchphrase.

The rally will start on Thursday morning with the shakedown in Nawisa before the flag-off ceremony at the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) at 3 pm. It will have 20 stages, starting with Mzabibu on Thursday evening before ending on Sunday at Hell’s Gate.
