Sponsors Raise Over Sh173 Million For Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon

More than 40 sponsors and partners have raised over Sh173 million for the 21st edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon scheduled for October 27 at Uhuru Gardens.

The increase of sponsors this year from just Sh30 million last year reflects a collective commitment to transforming lives, nurturing talent and fostering sports globally said local organizing Committee (LOC) chairperson Peter Gitau.

Gitau said this year’s edition is set to be an explosive event that won’t be forgotten by Nairobi residents.

“Proceeds from the marathon are going to help young people especially women and
individuals with disabilities to learn, earn and grow,” Gitau quipped emphasizing that the substantial support comprising both cash and in-kind contributions promises to enhance the experience for participants and further empower community initiatives.

Since its inception, the marathon has welcomed over 300,000 runners cementing its status as one of the region’s premier athletic events as this edition now ensures that person’s living with disabilities are well taken care of with Light for the World supporting with the evaluation to ensure the marathon is inclusive.

CBM Christian Blind Mission, a leader in disability inclusion will also ensure essential support for participants with disabilities while for participating mothers, Kisskids will set up mothers’ rooms along the route and venue.

“By ensuring that the marathon is accessible to persons with disabilities, we are not only promoting equal opportunities in sports but also raising awareness of the importance of inclusivity in all aspects of life,” finalized Daniel Oloo who is Interim Country Director for Light for World Kenya.
