Kenya Ports Authority has been commended by delegations from Ukraine, Slovenia and the World Food Programme for ensuring seamless handling of humanitarian cargo at the Port of Mombasa.

H.E. Ambassador Yurii Tokar and H.E. Ambassador Kristina Radej praised the Authority for facilitating the swift evacuation of relief food upon discharge, describing the port as a dependable gateway for humanitarian consignments.

Speaking during the meeting on behalf of the Managing Director, KPA General Manager for Cargo Operations Dr. Sudi Mwasinago assured the delegations of the Authority’s continued support in meeting urgent humanitarian targets, including granting berthing priority to relief vessels.

Dr. Mwasinago added that beyond its core commercial mandate, KPA remains committed to facilitating non-core humanitarian cargo, including emergency relief consignments destined for vulnerable communities across the region, as part of its broader national and regional responsibility.

The envoys reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring areas of mutual benefit with the port. WFP Kenya Deputy Country Director Sune Kent said the agency will continue utilizing the Port of Mombasa for relief food shipments, citing its efficiency and reliability.

He noted the port remains a strategic supply chain hub for WFP’s humanitarian operations, with Ukraine playing a significant role in the supply of cereals.
