Joseph Kamau, 26, left for Moscow in June last year after he got a green pasture which he thought was a great job opportunity. After he arrived in the Russian capital, the family lost contact with him, which raised their concerns about his safety.
According to the family source, Kamau is a trained chef, had told them that he got a job as a chef with the Russian Army and that the offer was attractive in terms of higher pay and better living conditions. But now that Kamau has gone missing, his family is worried and need to find him.
Kamaus mother Susan Wanjiru told the press that the link to the job opportunity to her son was linked to the opportunity by a woman she never met, who helped facilitate his travel documents and relocation.
Now, the devastated mother is appealing to the Government to help trace her son’s whereabouts, saying she fears for his safety amid reports of Kenyans facing hardship in Russia. The family, also called on the government to create more job opportunities locally to prevent youths from seeking risky opportunities overseas.
