Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi Ng’ongo on Tuesday chaired the ministry’s weekly top management meeting, setting out priorities aimed at tightening budget execution and strengthening fiscal discipline as part of efforts to support economic growth and improve service delivery.
During the meeting, CS Mbadi underscored the need for prudent management of public resources, noting that effective budget implementation remains critical to ensuring government programmes deliver tangible benefits to Kenyans.
Principal Secretary Dr Chris Kiptoo echoed the call, emphasising the importance of coordinated execution across departments, enhanced accountability and timely decision-making. He said these measures were necessary to ensure agreed priorities are translated into measurable outcomes that positively impact citizens.
The meeting brought together senior Treasury officials, including Principal Administrative Secretary Samson Wangusi, Director-General for Budget, Fiscal and Economic Affairs Albert Mwenda, Director-General of the Public Debt Management Office Raphael Owino Otieno, Director-General for Accounting Services Bernard Ndung’u, as well as other directors.
