The Jubilee Party has rejected claims that it is behind alleged divisions within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying it has no interest in political conflict and remains committed to peaceful coexistence among Kenya’s political parties.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i said the party respects multiparty democracy and does not interfere in the internal affairs of other political formations. He urged leaders to shift their attention from political disputes to governance and service delivery.

Matiang’i said Jubilee’s position is rooted in promoting unity and stability, noting that any internal or external engagements undertaken by other parties are strictly their own responsibility.

The party dismissed suggestions that its leadership was influencing debates or disagreements within ODM, describing such claims as unfounded. Matiang’i clarified that neither Jubilee as a party nor its officials are involved in the affairs of ODM or any other political organisation.

Jubilee also defended its party leader, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, stating that his participation in national conversations should not be interpreted as political interference. The party said Kenyatta, as a retired Head of State, has a constitutional right to contribute to public discourse for the good of the country.

In a pointed message to leaders currently holding office, Jubilee called for renewed focus on public responsibilities, warning against politics driven by hostility and intimidation. The party argued that such approaches weaken democratic institutions and distract from national priorities.

The statement concluded with an appeal for political maturity, urging leaders to embrace dialogue, unity and inclusive leadership at a time of heightened political tension.

The remarks follow accusations from a section of ODM leaders who have alleged that Jubilee and its leadership are seeking to exploit internal disagreements within the party.
