Police in Murang’a County have launched investigations into the killing of a 34-year-old man whose body was discovered in a maize plantation in Kabati village.
The deceased, identified as Kennedy Njoroge, was found with multiple stab wounds to the head, neck and abdomen. Officers who arrived at the scene recovered a suspected weapon near the body.
A note left at the scene described the victim as having been involved in criminal activity and warned that more people could be targeted. Authorities, however, said the motive behind the killing remains unclear and investigations are ongoing.
The body was moved to a local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, in Kiambu Town, a man narrowly escaped death after his Mercedes-Benz saloon car caught fire on Monday morning near Kiambu High School.
According to police, the driver noticed smoke billowing from the bonnet and immediately stopped the vehicle before safely exiting. The car was later engulfed in flames and completely destroyed.
Police towed the burnt vehicle to the station for inspection as investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
In a separate incident in Ntimaru, Migori County, police are investigating the destruction of a vehicle belonging to Angata Sugar Mills after unknown individuals poured salt into its engine.
The car had reportedly been parked after developing mechanical problems. Authorities say the motive behind the sabotage remains unknown.
The incident comes amid heightened tension in the area following recent tribal clashes that have left several people dead and others displaced. A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been imposed in the region to restore calm.
Elsewhere in Tigoni, Limuru, police are pursuing three suspects who escaped from custody on December 28, 2025.\
According to police reports, the escape occurred as officers were cleaning the cells. One of the suspects allegedly pushed a female officer before climbing over the report office counter and fleeing through a wall leading to nearby tea plantations.
