Allies of President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga have closed ranks tearing into impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, warning him to keep Mr. Odinga’s name out of his belittling politics.
The leaders defended Raila as a towering pillar of democracy and accused Gachagua of railroading himself into political oblivion through tribal grandstanding, reckless rhetoric, and a toxic brand of self-destructive politics.
The leaders asked the Mr. Gachagua to stop belittling Raila describing him as a pillar of democracy while aaccused Gachagua of being a self destruction path of tribal politics.
Led by National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, the leaders dismissed Gachagua as an inconsequential politician desperate for relevance but cautioned him to cease personal tirades and embrace political hygiene, restraint, and maturity.
“In the African political scene we must have decent politics it cannot be personal, we must have an agenda and it should not have insults,” Wetang’ula said.
Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot escalated the onslaught, declaring that Gachagua could never measure up to Raila Odinga in stature, legacy, or intellect.

“We have watched him reduce politics to theatrics and insults. Shame on you,” Senator Cheruiyot charged.
“Raila Odinga is not your equal. Even if he were a hundred years old and frail, he would still be wiser, sharper, and more relevant than you.”
He accused Gachagua of mistaking noise for influence and warned that attacking Odinga would not resurrect his fallen political fortunes.
Describing Mr, Odinga as a statesman whose sacrifice has shaped Kenya’s democratic journey, Cheruiyot went further, accusing Gachagua of riding on tribal incitement and self-pity.
“You should be ashamed. You built your politics on division that is why you were impeached. And let me tell you plainly: you will never be elected to any seat in this country again,” he declared.
On his part , Mr. Farouk Kibet, President Ruto’s aide, did not spare the former Deputy President declaring that Gachagua’s political downfall was entirely self-inflicted.
He said that after failing in his bid to divide the country along ethnic lines, the impeached DP had now descended into schemes driven by desperation and deceit.
“This is the same man who preached about shares and shareholder politics. Now that his tribal arithmetic has collapsed, he has retreated to shylocking. He is moving around extorting and confiscating people’s money under the guise of recovering debts,” Farouk charged.
Echoing the President aide, Speaker Moses Wetang’ula cautioned leaders who undermine government legitimacy simply because they are no longer in power.
“There are people who believe that if they are not in government, then there is no government. They roam around the country hurling insults and pretending to be victims. That is not leadership,” the Speaker said.
Amid growing speculation from detractors that the Broad-Based Government may not survive politically beyond 2027, Ugenya MP David Ochieng rebutted critics questioning their loyalty to President William Ruto.
“To those whispering that our community will one day abandon President Ruto, let me be clear—you are dreaming,” he declared, dismissing opponents as wishful thinkers peddling political fiction.
This even as Speaker Wetang’ula mounted a strong defense of the government’s empowerment agenda, asserting that the Kenya Kwanza administration had deliberately ensured equitable development across all regions.
“We cannot live in a country where an entire region is isolated or segregated. Every Kenyan has a right to participate in, and benefit from, national prosperity,” he emphasized.
Wetang’ula , who is also the FORD Kenya party leader , pointed to unprecedented appointments from the Nyanza region as proof of inclusivity, noting that for the first time in Kenya’s history, the area boasts a Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury, an Energy CS, the Attorney General, a Principal Secretary for Interior, among other top government positions.
He urged residents to reciprocate by backing President Ruto’s re-election bid, stressing that the region was already witnessing tangible gains.
“Look at Homa Bay today, we are building roads, landing beaches, schools; we are empowering youth, women, and girls,” he said.
The Speaker called on locals to continue rallying behind the Broad-Based Government and take full advantage of its programs.
Meanwhile, Homabay County MP Hon. Joyce Osugo Bensouda appealed to Speaker Wetang’ula to lobby for increased allocation to the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), saying stronger funding was key to sustaining grassroots empowerment.
She also called on the government to guarantee service delivery under the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that while MPs were working to register citizens, the rollout must be matched with accessible and quality services.
