Young people drawn from 27 counties are set to receive Sh25,000 each under the second phase of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme, with disbursement scheduled between Thursday this week and Friday next week.
The MSMEs Development Principal Secretary, Susan Mang’eni, said close to 50,000 beneficiaries will benefit in this phase. Of the total amount, Sh22,000 will be deposited into beneficiaries’ NYOTA Pochi la Biashara wallets, while Sh3,000 will be channelled into their Haba na Haba savings accounts under the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
NYOTA’s business component targets 100,000 vulnerable youth across all 1,450 wards nationwide, with at least 70 beneficiaries per ward. The initiative seeks to empower young people through business start-up capital and structured mentorship.
The first phase of disbursement was conducted on November 7, 2025, covering Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia and Bungoma counties, where 12,155 beneficiaries received the first tranche of Sh25,000.
According to Mang’eni, the Phase Two disbursement and mentorship forums will begin on Thursday in Eldoret, bringing together youth from Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Turkana and West Pokot counties. Nakuru will host beneficiaries from Nakuru, Narok, Bomet, Kericho and Baringo on Friday.
On Monday next week, similar events will be held in Nanyuki for youth from Laikipia, Isiolo and Samburu, and in Nyeri for beneficiaries from Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga and Nyandarua counties.
Meru will host youth from Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Embu on Wednesday, while Machakos will host beneficiaries from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni on Thursday. The final event will be held in Nairobi on Friday next week for youth from Nairobi, Kiambu and Kajiado counties.
Mang’eni noted that the schedule for Phase Three disbursement, targeting the remaining 16 counties including: Kilifi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Garissa, Mandera and Wajir, will be announced at a later date.
