The ODM party will remain in President William Ruto’s government up to the next elections, Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho told Kenyans living in Australia.

‎The former ODM deputy party leader asserted that President Ruto would continue being the president beyond 2027, because he had so far achieved beyond expectation.

‎Joho was speaking to the Kenyans in the diaspora on Sunday, September 7, 2025, on the sidelines of the just concluded Africa Down Under (ADU) 2025 Mining Conference in Perth, Australia.

‎He cited the Affordable Housing Programme, on-going youth and women empowerment activities, Universal Health Care and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda as projects that indicate Ruto’s leadership was on the right trajectory.

‎To those who expect ODM Cabinet Secretaries to leave government at some point he said: “Tutaka ndani ya serikali kabisa”. We will stay in government at all costs”.

‎Joho challenged the naysayers to develop shock absorbers and move on since their wishes were nipped in the bud when Raila agreed to work with President Ruto.

‎The Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs urged Kenyans living in Australia to invest back home.

‎He appealed to the Kenyan residents to take advantage of the supportive investment environment and conducive government policies in place, which ensure high returns on their investments.

‎In an inspiring engagement with Kenyans in Australia, Joho explained that the government prioritized the diaspora by creating a department to address the diaspora needs as major contributors to the country’s economy.

‎”President Ruto created the diaspora department to address needs of Kenyans in the diaspora as major contributors to the country’s economy”, Joho said.

‎During the cordial interactions, Joho highlighted the diverse investment opportunities available across various sectors of the economy.

‎He told the Kenyan diaspora that Ruto continues to implement what he promised Kenyans before the elections in August 2022.

‎It is therefore worthwhile to support him to achieve more, the vocal ODM CS noted.
