The President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Faith Odhiambo, was this afternoon sworn in as the vice-chairperson of the expert panel tasked with overseeing compensation for victims of demonstrations and public protests.
Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Odhiambo issued a firm statement, making it clear that she will not hesitate to step down from the role if her work is obstructed.
“I owe my service to the people of Kenya and to my colleagues at the LSK. If my efforts are frustrated or interfered with in any way, I am ready to do the honourable thing—in full fidelity to the Constitution and the rule of law,” she said.
She further emphasized her commitment to justice, stating:
“The bloodshed of our comrades must not be in vain. I will not take any prisoners. I will keep the public informed every step of the way, and under no circumstances will I act in a manner that reverses the gains we have made together as a nation.”
