Police officers from Malindi Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), carried out a successful intelligence-driven operation yesterday targeting criminal elements within the area.
The operation began with the arrest of an initial suspect, who, during interrogation, provided crucial information that led officers to the Nat and Kwa Famau areas of Maweni.
There, seven more individuals were apprehended. The suspects are believed to be members of a notorious gang known as Team Nati Dread, which has been linked to a series of violent incidents and acts of intimidation against local residents.
During the raid, police recovered three machetes, two mobile phones, and various pieces of jewellery suspected to be stolen property.
All eight suspects are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court to face multiple charges.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public safety, stating that similar targeted operations will continue until all criminal networks are dismantled and offenders brought to justice.
