According to police, the mother had locked her daughters inside the house earlier that evening before stepping out. Their elderly grandmother, who was also in the house, was asleep in another room and reportedly unaware of what had occurred.
Authorities arrested the mother for questioning as investigations continue to piece together what led to the girls’ brutal deaths. Police have yet to determine who the killer is or what the motive could have been.
The bodies were moved to the local mortuary for a postmortem as detectives pursue all leads.
Elsewhere, in Embali, Vihiga County, the body of 33-year-old Jonathan Eba, a bodaboda operator, was discovered by the roadside early Wednesday morning. He had deep cuts on his face and eyes, and his motorcycle was missing—fueling fears that he was attacked during a robbery.
