President William Ruto has commended former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for offering valuable insights and strategic direction during his address at the Third National Executive Retreat held at the KCB Leadership Centre in Kajiado County.
In a public statement following Raila’s presentation, President Ruto lauded the ODM leader’s emphasis on integrity and substance in public service, noting that his message aligns with the core values of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
“We have been honoured by the apt wisdom, insights, and ideas shared by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during his address,” Ruto stated.
He particularly highlighted Raila’s call for leaders to prioritize doing what is right over what is popular — a message Ruto said strongly resonates with his government’s philosophy of principled and transformative leadership.
The president further noted that Raila provided meaningful perspectives on flagship national infrastructure initiatives, including the affordable housing programme, the development of fresh produce markets, and the expansion of airports. These projects, Ruto said, are critical to accelerating economic growth and improving livelihoods across the country.
“We drew valuable lessons from Hon. Odinga’s thoughts on the implementation of national infrastructure programmes,” the President added.
In his presentation, Raila also applauded the government’s efforts in digitizing public services and underscored the transformative potential of technology — including the role of artificial intelligence (AI) — in modern governance.
The two-day retreat, attended by Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and senior government officials, served as a mid-term review for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s performance under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
