How suspected Drug Traffickers Were Arrested in Nairobi

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI)on Sunday arrested two notorious suspects involved in the illicit drug trade.

Teresia Nduku, a Kenyan national, and Simba Kitwana Khamri, a Tanzanian, were apprehended in Dohnholm, Nairobi, following a sting operation.

The two suspects, known for their involvement in the trafficking of cannabis sativa, led the officers to their residence in Manyanzani, Tala Kangundo Sub-County.

A detailed search of the premises revealed a backpack with a secret compartment concealing a large stash of cannabis sativa, a digital scale, and other incriminating documents.

According to investigators, the cannabis sativa is a rare type originating from outside Kenya, having been smuggled into the country through the Namanga border.

Authorities further revealed that Khamri, the Tanzanian suspect, is a specialist in disguising the illegal drug, skillfully packing it in backpacks for distribution both locally and internationally.

Preliminary intelligence reports estimate that 1 gram of the confiscated cannabis has a street value of Ksh. 8,000. Further tests are being conducted to determine its unique properties.

The two traffickers are currently in custody and will soon be arraigned in court, where they will face drug trafficking charges. Authorities have vowed to intensify efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the country.
