A man and a 16-month-old baby are currently hospitalized at Kakamega County General Hospital due to serious burn injuries they sustained during an alleged domestic violence incident that occurred in Kakamega South Sub County.
The incident took place on June 1 2026 at Shivagala village, a location approximately three kilometres from the police base, based on the report lodged at Malinya Patrol Base under Malaika Police Station.
The complainant, Danston Isundwa Mmbehi, stated that a woman he presented to his wife as his second wife came to their home with a child whom he alleged was their child.
The report notes that the woman, Fransisca Makhokha, got to the house at about 10 a. m. And was received by the wife of Mmbehi, Mary Mmbone Khalechi.
The complainant explains that after the introductions his wife led the visitors into the house and then she went to the kitchen as if to make tea. But, she came back shortly with a sufuria of boiling water and doused the complainant who was holding the child with it.
As a result, both the man and the infant sustained severe burns and were rushed to Kakamega County General Hospital for treatment. Police said the child remains admitted in serious condition.
Police have launched investigations into the matter and are pursuing leads to locate and arrest the suspect.
The suspect is said to have escaped the place of incident and her location is a mystery.
