Lawyer Morara Kebaso appeared on Citizen TV’s JKLive Show, where he sensationally claimed President William Ruto called him and offered him a government job.
This, according to Morara was aimed at stopping him from continuing with his supposed exposés on ‘stalled and mishandled’ government projects.
First, during the Wednesday, August 28 interview with Jeff Koinange, Kebaso claimed he was approached by the president’s close friends with similar offers before receiving a call from Ruto himself.
“I received calls from those close to the president, and eventually, the president himself reached out to me. I declined the offer because I believe that there are enough people in government," Kebaso claimed.
However, the allegation drew the attention of State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, who quickly called into the show to set the record straight.
In his account, Hussein vehemently denied Ruto ever calling Kebaso, urging the lawyer to stop lying on national TV.
"I am shocked at what Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the President called him. For the record, such a call never happened. It is a statement of his imagination," said Hussein.
Further, the spokesperson repeatedly urged Kebaso to prove the claims of the supposed call, but he did not.
Hussein said he acknowledged the role of accountability in governance but asked Kebaso to do it truthfully and accurately.
“What Morara Kebaso and others are doing is crucial for our democracy, and the president welcomes it. However, it’s vital that such activities are conducted truthfully. The president has committed to completing the projects that were started under the previous administration, and he’s doing exactly that,” added Hussein.
