Kisumu residents turned out in large numbers to welcome President William Ruto, who is on a development tour of the Nyanza region.
According to images and videos seen by TUKIO.co.ke, the residents lined up along Oginga Odinga Street, waiting for the president to address them.
As Ruto’s convoy snaked through the city, the residents danced and cheered him, expressing their joy at seeing him.
Taking to social media, the head of state thanked the residents for the warm welcome, insisting on the importance of unity.
"What unites us is greater than what divides us. Let us combine efforts and take Kenya to the next level. Thank you, the people and traders of the great city of Kisumu, for the warm welcome," Ruto stated.
The president is set to inspect and commission key projects in the county under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
