A deadly road accident involving a MetroTrans Sacco bus claimed the lives of two people and left several others injured on Monday morning along Kiambu Road.

The accident occurred near the AAR Hospital, shortly after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus lost control while descending a steep section of the road, veered off its lane, and overturned.

“The bus was speeding. It looked like the driver was struggling to control it as it descended,” said one boda boda rider who witnessed the crash.

Shortly after the crash, spontaneous protests erupted near Ridgeways, where angry residents lit bonfires and blocked parts of the road in protest over poor road safety enforcement.

It remains unclear whether the demonstrations were directly related to the accident, but the combined events caused widespread traffic disruptions along Kiambu Road and its feeder routes.

MetroTrans Sacco is yet to release an official statement.

This incident follows another PSV accident in Keroka the previous day, raising serious concerns about public transport safety.
