Zoho Kenya country manager Veerakumar Natarajan is rooting for technology adoption to enhance service delivery.
According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), more than 80% of the 30 million SMEs operating across Kenya and the greater East Africa still operate informally, relying on paper records, manual inventory checks and disconnected payment systems to transact.
Most of these businesses have no digital footprint, meaning no access to financial services and no real data for decision-making. This is not only slowing growth but also actively locking entrepreneurs from key business opportunities.
During this year’s one-day Zoholics Conference Kenya 2025, it emerged that partnerships with the government is key in fuelling technology adoption by MSMEs. Digital tools are key for businesses to streamline operations and reach a wider market.
