YouTube will implement new monetisation rules starting July 15, 2025, targeting AI-generated and low-effort content. The platform announced changes to its YouTube Partner Program (YPP) that will limit earnings for creators who rely on artificial voices, reused footage, or automated compilations.

The move comes as YouTube faces a surge in synthetic content, which the company says offers little value to viewers. Under the new guidelines, content that includes AI-generated narration, recycled clips without meaningful edits, and faceless videos with minimal human input will no longer qualify for monetisation.

“YouTube wants to reward creators who provide original content and genuine effort,” a statement from the platform said. The policy aims to prioritise human-created content and uphold trust among advertisers and viewers.

To stay eligible for monetisation, creators must use real human voices, create unique content, and add value through editing, commentary, or storytelling. YouTube is also urging creators to avoid automated or AI-assisted uploads that lack personal engagement or transformation.

The update is expected to affect thousands of channels, especially those that depend on shortcut methods or AI tools to produce bulk content. However, YouTube says the changes are necessary to preserve content quality and ensure that earnings go to creators who contribute original and meaningful work.
