The Usawa Kwa Wote Party has announced plans to field candidates for all elective positions across Kenya in the 2027 General Election.
The party said the move is aimed at strengthening Kenya’s multiparty democracy while giving voters more political choices across the country.
Speaking to the media in Nairobi on Friday, August 7, party leader Mwangi Wa Iria said no region should be treated as the political preserve of a particular party.
Wa Iria argued that political zoning undermines constitutional freedoms, including the right to political participation, association and democratic competition.
Under the new plan, Usawa Kwa Wote will field candidates for positions ranging from President to Member of County Assembly across the country.
The party has also invited Kenyans interested in contesting on its ticket to register as aspirants ahead of the 2027 polls.
A National Aspirants Convention is expected to be held later this month in Nairobi to prepare the party’s candidates for the elections.
The party further announced plans to launch the Usawa Mashinani Programme, which will see its leaders travel across the country to engage wananchi, listen to their concerns and popularise the party’s agenda at the grassroots.
Wa Iria urged political leaders to embrace tolerance, respect divergent views and focus their campaigns on issues rather than regional political dominance.
He also called on Kenyans to safeguard peace and unity as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 General Election.
“Kenya belongs to all Kenyans. Every political party has the constitutional right to organize, campaign, and seek the people’s mandate in every part of our country,” Wa Iria said.
He added that democracy thrives when political competition is free, fair and peaceful and based on ideas rather than geographical monopolies.
The announcement comes as political parties and prospective candidates begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
