Nandi senator Samson Cherargei has weighed in on his Busia counterpart, Okiya Omtatah’s presidential ambitions.

Omtatah has hinted at vying for president in the 2027 General Election, seeking to unseat President William Ruto, who will seek re-election.

However, Cherargei warned Omtatah that it would be an uphill task to unseat Ruto, who trounced Raila Odinga in the 2022 polls despite the latter being sponsored by the then government.

The Nandi senator also informed the renowned activist that he would need over KSh 7 billion to run a successful presidential campaign.

Also, to emerge victorious, Cherargei said Omtatah will need a voting bloc that is established and a grassroots network that isn’t aware of the social media existence and hype.

"To my brother and colleague Senator Okiya Omtatah, while I wish you well in your presidential bid, to vie against H.E William Ruto is a toll order who outwitted and outsmarted the government candidate Raila Odinga in the 2022 General Election," said Cherargei.
