John Alfred Tinniswood, recognised as the world’s oldest man, has passed away at the age of 112.
He died on Monday, November 25, at his care home in Southport, England, surrounded by music and the love of his family.
Born on August 21, 1912— the same year the Titanic sank— Tinniswood earned the title of the world’s oldest man in April 2024, following the death of 114-year-old Juan Vicente Pérez from Venezuela.
Tinniswood’s professional life included serving in the Royal Army Pay Corps during World War II, where he applied his expertise in accounts and auditing.
He later worked for Royal Mail, followed by roles as an accountant with major oil companies Shell and BP. He retired in 1972.
In his retirement, Tinniswood remained active in his community, volunteering at Blundellsands United Reform Church, where he served as an elder and even preached sermons.
