World 10km record holder Agnes Jebet will be the star attraction at this year’s Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Tour, set for February 22 in Eldoret.
Jebet, who is returning to cross-country competition for the first time in a while, is eager to make her mark in the event.
She will be looking to build on her impressive performance in 2024, where she dominated in several road races.
Her standout moment came in January at the Valencia Ibercaja 10km, where she set a world record of 28:46, securing first place.
In October, she came close to overtaking Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey as the fastest woman in the world half marathon, finishing with a time of 1:02:52 at the Valencia Marathon.
The 2023 Lille Half Marathon champion last competed at the World Championships in March 2024, where she clocked 31:27 to finish fourth in the senior women’s 10km race.
Now refreshed and ready for new challenges in 2025, Jebet is eager to kick off the year at the Sirikwa Classic, hoping to further solidify her dominance in the sport.

“I’m ready to push my limits because I believe there’s more to come from me. I don’t want to stop at the 10km world record; I am confident in my abilities. I encourage all athletes to register for this event so we can make it a great success,” Jebet said.
The fourth edition of the Sirikwa Classic will take place at Lobo Village in Eldoret, where athletes will compete across five categories: senior men and women’s 10km, Under-20 men’s 8km, Under-20 women’s 6km, and kids’ athletics.
