A star, studded field of women and men will take to the start line tomorrow for the 2026 Tokyo Marathon which has attracted over 30 athletes with fantastic records in distance running.
Eleven well, known Kenyan marathoners will be in the race tomorrow with the ambition of taking the titles away from the Ethiopians who last year made a clean sweep.
2021 winner Bridgid Kosgei will be the mainstay of the Kenyan women’s title challenge along with 2023 champion Rosemary Wanjiru in a race that will also feature Viola Cheptoo, Pascalia Jepkogei and Grace Loibach who will be looking to lay their hands on a first Tokyo marathon title. 2024 silver medalist Timothy Kiplagat and 2024 London marathon winner Alexander
Mutiso will be the mainstay of Kenyan mens field which also features Vincent Ngetich who was third both in 2024 and 2025, Geoffrey Toroitich, Daniel Mateiko and Simon Kariuki.
