Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has revealed that the Wiper party, led by Kalonzo Musyoka, is preparing to support Generation Z candidates who are interested in running for various positions in the 2027 general elections.

Senator Maanzo expressed that Wiper is open to welcoming new members from Generation Z who aspire to enter politics.

He encouraged young individuals to register as voters with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and to join political parties of their choice in preparation for the upcoming elections.

“We want to motivate Gen Z to register as voters and affiliate with political parties. Wiper is ready to support any Gen Z candidate who wishes to run for office but has faced challenges in forming their own parties. We can sponsor them for various positions,” Maanzo stated.

He also highlighted that the youth, who have recently voiced their discontent with the current Kenya Kwanza administration, will have the opportunity to elect new leaders in the next general elections who are more aligned with their interests.

Maanzo further noted that with two years remaining until the elections, voters dissatisfied with their current MPs should consider starting recall efforts by collecting signatures.

He emphasized that once the IEBC is reconstituted, voters will have the chance to recall underperforming representatives.

In July 2024, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) had rejected ten proposed Gen Z political party names for not meeting inclusivity standards.

The rejected names included Gen-Z Movement, Gen-Z National Movement, Gen-Z Alliance Movement, Gen-Z Democratic Movement, Gen-Z People’s Alliance, Gen Z United Movement, Gen-Z People’s Movement, Gen-Z Political Party, Gen-Z Democratic Party, and Gen-Z Alliance Party.
