The National Assembly Committee on Appointments has approved the nomination of Beatrice Askul Moe and Dorcas Oduor into the Cabinet.
Moe and Oduor were nominated by President William Ruto to be the East African Community Affairs and Regional Development Cabinet secretary and Attorney General respectively.
They were vetted on Friday, August 9 and on Wednesday, August 14, National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed tabled the committee’s report announcing the approval of the duo.
“This House approves the appointment of the following persons, Beatrice Askul Moe as Cabinet Secretary for East African Community Affairs and Regional Development and Dorcas Oduor as the Attorney General of the Republic of Kenya,” said Junet.
Moe and Oduor will now wait the approval by the National Assembly plenary. If affirmed, their names will be forwarded to President Ruto for appointment and swearing in.
They will then be officially gazetted.
Dorcas Oduor’s profile
If approved Odour will take over from Justin Muturi, who was appointed as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.
She is currently serving as Secretary of Public Prosecution at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).
Oduor is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Arts in International Conflict Management from the University of Nairobi (UON).
She also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from UON and a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law.
The nominee has previously served in various capacities among them the Deputy Director Public Prosecutions in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and Head of Economic, International and Emerging Crimes Department still in ODPP.
She also served as Deputy Chief State Counsel and as a State Counsel in the department of Public Prosecution at the then Office of the Attorney General.
