Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called for stronger cooperation among leaders within the Broad-Based Alliance, saying cross-party unity is critical to accelerating development and improving service delivery across Kenya.
Waiguru made the remarks following the Joint Broad-Based Alliance Parliamentary Group and Governors Retreat held in Naivasha and led by President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga.
In a statement, the governor said closer cooperation between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) would help the government fast-track development programmes and address the needs of communities across the country.
“A strong cross-party synergy between UDA and ODM is vital to fast-track service delivery and uplift every community across Kenya,” Waiguru said.
She said the retreat provided an opportunity for leaders from different political formations to strengthen their cooperation around a shared development agenda.
The meeting brought together governors, Members of Parliament and other leaders allied to the Broad-Based Alliance as the political formation continues to consolidate its partnership ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Naivasha retreat came shortly after President Ruto announced that Kenya Kwanza and ODM had agreed to formally work together as a coalition in the 2027 election and develop a joint manifesto.
Ruto said the joint manifesto would be based on shared priorities while incorporating ideas and aspirations raised by Kenyans through national consultations.
The President also urged members of the alliance to remain united, arguing that the coalition’s political cooperation should be matched by a clear development agenda.
