Kenyan actor Lenana Kariba has addressed online trolls after sharing that he is a stay-at-home dad, a revelation that sparked mixed reactions on social media. While many applauded his hands-on approach to fatherhood, others questioned his role, with some using phrases like “umewekwa” or “you’ve been kept” to describe his situation.
Responding to the comments, Lenana acknowledged that some people still hold rigid views about gender roles, even in modern times. He noted that the criticism reflects outdated thinking about what men and women are “supposed” to do within a family setup.
Despite the backlash, the actor made it clear that he is proud of his choice. Lenana described being a stay-at-home dad as one of the most rewarding experiences of his life, saying that watching his daughter grow and learn every day fills him with immense joy and pride. He shared that being deeply involved in her world and witnessing her milestones firsthand is something he truly cherishes.
Lenana also clarified that choosing to be a stay-at-home dad does not mean he has stepped away from his career. According to him, he continues to work and pursue his passion for acting, while still enjoying the flexibility to spend quality time with his daughter.
“I wouldn’t trade this time with my girl for anything,” he shared, emphasising that the balance between his career and fatherhood works well for him.
