Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire has fired a political warning shot at unnamed senior officials within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and national government, accusing them of orchestrating secret plots to undermine her leadership both at the county level and within the ruling party.
Speaking during a press briefing in Embu, Mbarire, who also serves as the UDA National Chairperson, claimed that high-ranking individuals have been holding clandestine meetings aimed at destabilizing her administration and discrediting her authority in party circles.“I have remained silent for too long, but I will not keep quiet anymore,” said a visibly agitated Mbarire. “There are individuals, both in government and in our own party, who have been scheming behind my back.
Let it be known—I am ready to face them head-on.”While she did not name the alleged conspirators, the Governor warned that she would publicly expose them if they continued with their political machinations.
She accused the unnamed officials of attempting to weaken her grip on power in Embu and interfere with her role in UDA’s national leadership.“These secret meetings in Embu must stop. If they don’t, I will name names,” she declared. “I have the mandate of the people, and I will defend it without fear.”Her remarks come amid growing internal tensions within UDA, with various factions emerging across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mbarire’s public outburst signals a deeper rift within the ruling party and raises questions about internal discipline and political loyalty among party ranks.
Governor Mbarire has been a staunch supporter of President William Ruto and a key figure in UDA’s national executive. Her latest statement suggests that even top-ranking allies may not be immune to internal party friction.
As of now, there has been no official response from the UDA party leadership or government representatives concerning the governor’s allegations.
