Two women have been arrested over an alleged KSh530,000 fraud involving the supply of 7,500 chicks valued at KSh1,387,500.

The suspects, Marysella Naswa Kanda and Angela Kendi, appeared before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ngong, where they were charged with conspiracy to defraud, contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code.

The court granted each suspect cash bail of KSh250,000 or an alternative bond of KSh300,000. The case will be mentioned on November 9, 2026.

Investigations began after a complainant reported at Kiserian Police Station that they had paid for the chicks but received none.
According to the complaint, KSh350,000 was deposited into a Co-operative Bank account operated under Japlead Global Feed, reportedly owned by Kanda, on September 13, 2026. A further KSh180,000 was paid into the same account on September 16 after a promise of expedited delivery.

Police subsequently launched investigations and conducted an undercover operation, posing as prospective customers seeking to purchase chicks.

The operation led to Kanda’s arrest in Kitengela, with assistance from local police officers.
Kendi was also arrested in connection with the alleged fraud.
The two suspects will remain subject to the court process as investigations and proceedings continue.
