The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has clarified that both Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS) and Tax Invoice Management System (TIMS) invoices are accepted under its integration with the government’s Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS).
In a public notice issued on Thursday, October 15, 2026, KRA, in collaboration with the National Treasury, said the integration supports the validation of invoices generated through both systems.
The authority noted that the integration aims to enhance transparency and accountability in government transactions, streamline invoice validation and payment processes, and strengthen tax compliance through automated verification.
KRA said all suppliers doing business with government entities can submit valid eTIMS and TIMS invoices, provided they meet the applicable validation requirements before progressing through the IFMIS payment workflow.
The clarification is expected to guide suppliers and government entities on the use of the integrated system and help prevent confusion over invoice acceptance.
KRA and the National Treasury reaffirmed their commitment to supporting suppliers and government institutions in implementing the solution to facilitate invoice validation, improve tax compliance and ensure timely processing of legitimate supplier payments.
Suppliers seeking assistance can contact KRA through its contact centre on 020 4 999 999 or 0711 099 999, or email callcentre@kra.go.ke.
